VETAMERICAN PET HOSPITAL IN THE ‘CITIES OF HOPE’

OBJECTIVE

Following the earthquake that took place in Kahramanmaraş on 06.02.2023, Koç Holding and affiliates launched the “Cities of Hope” project, which aims to reach out to hundreds of children in the earthquake site and convey them the love of animals while carrying out medical check-ups of animals.


SCOPE

The “Cities of Hope” consist of 5000 containers deployed by Koç Holding and Affiliates under the coordination of AFAD in Adıyaman, Hatay, İskenderun, Kahramanmaraş and Malatya, where various events were organized to meet children, the love of animals were extended to them, and basic information about animal health was delivered. The team that included Chief Physician Onur Ülgenalp and Director Doğa Kumuşoğlu delivered training for basic knowledge on animal health to the children and made interactive presentations in Malatya, Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş and Hatay on April 15-18, 2024. Children were given basic knowledge about how to communicate with our friends with paws, which foods should be fed to them and how they should be cared for during these events, where other topics such as “animal rights” and “the importance of veterinary medicine” were also discussed.

The project took place on April 15-18, 2024.


TARGET AUDIENCE

Delivering training for basic knowledge on animal health to the children and also conducting general medical check-ups of the animals in the provinces of Malatya, Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş and Hatay.


AUDIENCE NEEDS MET

General check-ups were conducted for the animals, and the animals were treated against parasites in the “Cities of Hope” and the region.


WHAT ARE THE OUTCOMES OF THE PROJECT? WHAT HAS BEEN ACHIEVED?

The project reached out to hundreds of children in the “Cities of Hopes” during site visits, aiming to imbue children with the love of animals and tend to medical check-ups of animals.
