Antonio Nores Martinez, at the age of 18, and Agustin, one year younger, took their first steps in designing a large game-hunting dog specific to the challenging rural areas of Argentina in 1925. Dr. Martinez aimed to create a wild, ideal hunting, brave, and powerful dog breed. In pursuit of this goal, the Dogo Argentino was developed by crossbreeding various breeds, including the local Cordoba Fighting Dog, Great Dane, Boxer, Spanish Mastiff, Bulldog, Bull Terrier, Pointer, and Irish Wolfhound.
The Dogo Argentino began to spread beyond Argentina and gained popularity internationally. With its white coat, athletic structure, and balanced temperament, it is preferred as both a family and a working dog.
